Aggressively priced rugged, compact laser terminal with 16-bit CPU, up to 1.5 MB RAM
storage, backlit graphic LCD and keyboard. It incorporates a DOS based system that
provides users with a PC/AT compatible environment in which to develop application
programs using standard C compilers. Many applications can be covered by the simple
formatable data capture program supplied free of charge with the unit.
The unit operates from a Ni-Mh battery pack which does not suffer the
memory effects encountered with Ni-Cd. Alternatively the unit can be powered from 3
standard AA alkaline batteries. A built in earplug jack allows feedback confirmation of
keystrokes and scanned bar codes in noisy environments.
Data can be downloaded via a
cradle or directly via a standard 9 pin RS232 cable. With the PT-700-5, communications
with the cradle is handled optically to eliminate connector wear. The unit can be
re-charged by direct connection to a mains adapter, or via the cradle. This is an
outstanding value for money package which can be used "plug and play" style
straight from the box.
